Riding for several surf companies, making videos, and winning competitions have gained me worldwide exposure and name recognition in the global surfing community.
I was born and raised in the beautiful coastal town of La Jolla, San Diego. I was brought up in a surfing family, thus making me a 2nd generational surfer. My father got me into surfing at the age of 4, but I really didn’t get into it until I was about 9. That's when I entered my first contest and won! This is when I began my amateur surfing career. I realized my love for competing, so for the next 8 years, I competed every weekend. I have been trained by the best surfers in the world, including Ian Cairns, Joey Buran, Barton Lynch, and Mike Parsons.
My success as a competitive
surfer involved winning several amateur events and championships, including achieving a Silver Medal at the ISA World Competition in New Zealand in 2012, and the WSL North American 2013 Junior Champion. I was one of the few Americans to be a Travelling Team Member for the USA Surf Team from 2010 through 2014. I have been competing professionally ever since. I've traveled the world and surfed the best and most exotic waves that exist. My love for surfing grows with every new wave, new location, and new student.

I started coaching 5 years ago but went full-time with it 2 years ago. Thus, Beyond Surf San Diego was created. I still love to travel and compete, but I love sharing my knowledge and experience whether it’s with beginners learning to surf for the first time or professionals training for the Olympics.
I provide one-on-one Surf Coaching and Surf Lessons for beginners, intermediates, and professional surfers. I am especially focused on technique, body movement, and flow. I believe I have the best systems and instructions to help all levels improve and attain their goals in surfing. There is nothing I love more professionally than my work within the surfing industry. I hope that you will join me on our road to success and share in this amazing journey!

I had been surfing for a year, and when I look back, after coaching with Jake, I ask myself what was I doing for that year?! I waited too long to get coached on what surfing is really about. After one clinic, I saw a massive improvement and I had more direction on what to be thinking about.
